Content syndication

Content syndication means publishing the same piece of content on other websites besides your own, usually with a link back to the original. For AI search it adds independent pages that mention your brand, which is what assistants draw on.

Last updated .

How to do it safely

  • Publish on your own site first and let it be indexed.
  • On the copy, set the canonical link to your original where the platform allows it.
  • Change the opening or add context, so it is not a word-for-word copy on several sites.
  • Always link back to the original and to your site.

Where it fits

LinkedIn articles, Medium, Substack and Dev.to are common places. A paid lead-generation network is a different thing, and is not needed for this.

What it does not do

Nobody can promise that an assistant will name you. It adds independent mentions, and thin or repeated content is mostly ignored.

Questions

Will it hurt my own site's ranking?

Not when the original is published first and the copy carries a canonical link to it, or clearly links back. Identical text copied to many sites without that can look like noise.
