Zapier's 9 best AI visibility tools, and what their list leaves out (2026)
Zapier's guide to the best AI visibility tools is one of the pages people read first, and it is a careful one. This post summarises how they chose, notes the tools their list does not cover, and scores Citeably against their own criteria, including where we fall short. Citeably is not on their list, and nothing here suggests they endorse us.

What Zapier's guide says
Zapier first published its guide in November 2025 and updated it in September 2026. Its author says they researched nearly 50 monitoring tools and tested as many as they could get into: creating accounts, watching demos, booking walkthroughs and reading the documentation.
The nine tools it lists, in its order: OtterlyAI (best for affordability), Peec AI (smart suggestions), ZipTie (deep analysis and reporting), Similarweb (SEO and GEO side by side), Petra Labs (all-in-one enterprise needs), Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar (both for people who already use those suites), Clearscope (content creators) and Yext Scout (local tracking).
We read the guide on 4 November 2026. Its prices and rankings may change, so check the page itself.
The 10 things Zapier looked for
Its criteria are a useful checklist whichever tool you are weighing:
- Visibility across multiple AI engines
- Actionable insights
- Trend tracking over time
- Conversation data, not just final outputs
- Citation source detection
- Visibility scoring (share of voice)
- Sentiment analysis
- Competitor benchmarking
- AI crawler and technical analysis
- Integrations, such as with Zapier
How Citeably scores against them
We scored ourselves the same way, using only what the product does today: 6 yes, 3 partial and 1 no.
- Multiple engines: partial. The free check asks ChatGPT and Gemini; paid plans cover four engines. Tools that cover many more engines are ahead here.
- Actionable insights: yes. A ranked fix list with ready-to-paste files, then a check that each fix is live.
- Trend tracking: yes, on paid plans, with weekly scans and a trend. The free check is a single snapshot.
- Conversation data: partial. Every answer is shown in full with its sources, but we do not track multi-turn conversations.
- Citation sources: yes. Each answer shows which sites it cited.
- Visibility scoring: yes. How many answers name you, with the range it could really be, a 0 to 100 visibility index, and who is named instead.
- Sentiment: partial. Each answer is marked positive, neutral or negative with a simple method. It is not a full sentiment product.
- Competitor benchmarking: yes. Who is named instead of you, and how often.
- AI crawler and technical analysis: yes. A site audit covering AI crawlers, llms.txt and structured data.
- Integrations: no. There is no Zapier app. There is an MCP server so an AI agent can run a check, which is not the same thing.
Tools the list does not cover
A guide with nine slots cannot cover everything. These are tools we compare that are not on Zapier's list, with prices read from each vendor's own pricing page on 3 November 2026:
- Rankscale: from about $20 a month, yearly billing only, credit-based.
- LLMrefs: one plan at $79 a month (marked limited time) for 500 prompts, with a 7-day free trial.
- AthenaHQ: a free Essential plan with 300 credits, then Starter at $295 a month.
- Profound: a free 7-day trial, then custom Enterprise pricing. No self-serve prices are shown on its page.
- Evertune: from $3,000 a month, per its own page.
- Citeably: a free check with no signup, and paid plans from $29 a month.
How to choose
Take the criteria that matter to you and mark each tool yes, partial or no, as above. Then try the free option: most of these tools offer a trial, and Citeably's free check takes about a minute and needs no signup.
If you want the cheapest way to track many prompts, look at Rankscale or LLMrefs. If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, check their add-ons first. If you want to know what to fix and see the real answers behind each score, that is what Citeably is for.
What nobody can promise
No tool can promise a position. AI answers change between runs, so a single check is a snapshot. Zapier says the same about non-deterministic results, and it is a reason to check weekly instead of once.
Frequently asked questions
Which tool does Zapier rank first?
In its September 2026 update, OtterlyAI is first and Peec AI second, out of nine. Zapier's order is its own view, so read how it tested before relying on it.
Is Citeably on Zapier's list?
No. This post is our own view. We do not claim Zapier endorses Citeably, and we are not part of their list.
Why do different lists rank tools differently?
They test different things. Some weigh the number of engines, some the price, some how actionable the advice is. That is why we suggest scoring tools against your own criteria.
Is the Citeably scorecard biased?
We wrote it, so it may be. We marked three criteria partial and one no, using only what the product does today, and listed the tools that cover more engines than we do.
